Welcome to Westland Studios, a spacious SSL recording studio in the heart of Dublin, Ireland.

At Westland Studios we pride ourselves in providing not only great facilities and equipment but also staff who really care about our clients. We strive to be efficient in our communication, we do not employ student engineers or inexperienced assistants, we do not make promises that we can’t keep and we do everything we can to make your time at Westland as productive and enjoyable as possible.

Since mid-December 2010 Westland Studios has been under new management, producer Alwyn Walker.
Alwyn is happy to show bands, artists, managers and producers around the studio (when there isn’t already a client in) and will answer all your questions. There is no obligation or pressure to record at Westland (or even to use Alwyn as your producer or engineer), and the visit is of course free of charge. To book a free tour of the studio, simply email This email address is being protected from spambots.  Westland's History

Since 1976 when these rooms were first used for recording the studio has witnessed the recording of many classic albums by some of the music world’s biggest names. U2, Thin Lizzy, Bob Dylan, Bryan Adams, Massive Attack, The Cure and Placebo are among them. See the Client List.

 Why Choose Westland?

We have a great mic collection, a decent selection of outboard and backline, but what sets us apart from other recording studios in Ireland?

- Space
Westland is one of Dublin’s largest recording studios, consisting of a 90 m2 main studio area and 2 comfortably sized booths, all separated by sliding glass doors. This allows for live tracking of large groups with drums, amps and vocals all in separate rooms if required while still allowing for eye contact. Of course the other rooms, staircases and corridors in the building also get used, resulting in a wide range of acoustic spaces available for recording.

- The sound of the SSL

Our SSL console is a big part of the sound that you get in Westland. Designed in the early 80’s when things were made to last, these monsters are still worth a fortune for a reason. The combination of its preamps, Eq's and Dynamics on every channel (as well as the buss compressor) gives it a sonic character that home set-ups simply lack.

- Baldwin grand piano and Hammond organ (with leslie)

Musicians love playing a real grand piano and hammond and as a result they often perform better than if playing a keyboard.

Modern synths and sample-based piano presets on keyboards can sound ok until you hear the real thing (see demo of the piano on youtube)

- Analogue Tape
Of course we have Protools 10 HD (48 inputs) but if your recording needs that vintage warmth that only analogue tape can impart, we have it here at Westland, both for recording to (24 track, 2” OTARI MTR100) and for mixing to (2 track, ¼” STUDER A820)

- Monitoring
We have NS10’s, an auratone, Spendor nearfields but our huge customised soffit-mounted ATC’s really give you a different perspective on your tracking and mixing that small speakers can't.

- Secure Parking

We have 2 free and secure parking spaces right beside the studio.

(fits 3 cars during working hours and 12 or so in evenings and at weekends)

- Customer Care

Whether you are a relatively new unsigned irish band or an established international act, Alwyn will go the extra mile to ensure you are happy to recommend Westland Studios. John O'Kelly (assistant/engineer) is tactful, knowledgeable, keen to help and easy to get along with. To meet us just get in touch.
